The original reinforced concrete building consisted of a four-story superstructure, a basement, and penthouse housing service equipment. The gross area of the building, including the basement level, was approximately 205,000 GSF. The renovation primarily included asbestos and lead-based-paint abatement, blast prevention structural reinforcement, space realignment and finishing, courtroom renovation and preservation, entrance and lobby first impression work, ADA compliance, environmental-friendly recycling and disposal, and energy-conservation upgrades for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems.

The newly renovated facility provided five new USBC courtrooms, a US Bankruptcy Court, Marshal Service, Probation, Trustee, HUD, and SSA offices.

Martin-Harris Construction identified and remedied significant portions of the existing building and building systems that had code compliance issues requiring immediate correction.  All work was completed within an extraordinarily busy site located in the downtown Las Vegas area. The facility was maintained under a phased-controlled vacancy during the construction portion, but the public perimeter was located just outside every phasing barrier, so it was imperative to maintain high levels of public safety and site security.  Additionally, once fully re-occupied, building control systems conduits were routed throughout the existing unaltered spaces.  Martin-Harris implemented shift work schedules, conducting some of the work after business hours, in order to minimize impact on day-to-day operations.
