Flamingo Detention Basin/Charlie Frias Park

The work for this project included asphalt paving, concrete sidewalk, grading, drainage curb and gutter, utility services and relocations, landscaping, retaining walls, fencing, restrooms buildings, shade structures and maintenance building, wetland plantings, berms and gage station enclosure.

The park features four soccer/multi-use fields, two playgrounds, picnic pavilions, restrooms, walking paths, a dog park, pastoral lawn area and horseshoe area. Traditional park amenities are located on the upper bluff in the northeast corner of the site, so as to keep the integrity of the natural topography of the bluffs. The park features native materials and endangered Buck Wheat Poppy plants were transplanted and preserved.

During the course of construction, Clark County Public Works added a tennis court, basketball court and splash pad to the scope of work for the 36-acre park. 50% design documents were given to the team in July. MHC worked with the Architect and design consultants to complete the design and provided constructability reviews throughout the process. The MHC Team also worked together to completely rework the project schedule around the affected area until the design was complete, allowing the work to proceed as much as possible. Notice to Proceed was given in October. Through proficient logistical coordination for both a preconstruction and construction portion of the project, MHC delivered the project on time despite the 3 month delay.
