The new restaurant was built in conjunction with the Claim Jumper which occupied half of the previous Carson Street Cafe. The scope of work included the demolition of the existing Carson Street Café and building a temporary wall to keep the casino clients separated. During the demolition, the MHC Team discovered that the existing sewer main line serving the hotel tower above the restaurant was cracked and deteriorating.
The MHC Team brought in key Subcontractors to assist with the development of a plan to install a temporary sewer line while the main line and laterals were being replaced. The sewer line replacement impacted the schedule by six weeks and would have pushed the completion date past the tenant’s targeted opening date. In order to minimize impact to the schedule, the MHC Team advanced floor tile installation (then covered the new tile with Masonite to protect it), gaining two weeks in the schedule, allowing the project to still achieve the targeted opening date.
