Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada and Martin-Harris Construction is making Kaydence’s wish of new accessible bathroom come true.

When Martin-Harris received the call that Kaydence needed a new bathroom, we rallied the troops and got to work! Kaydence Finch is a sweet, 13-year-old Las Vegas girl who loves being with her family and going on walks. She also battles a nervous system disorder. Through Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada, we learned that her wish was to have a bathroom remodel for an accessible shower. Kaydence enjoys bath time; the water helps her relax. Martin-Harris was determined to make her wish come true, so we recruited some of our favorite Partners to join the fun: KHS&S, U.S. Mechanical, Able Electric, Nevada Contract Carpet, SNV Specialties, and Vegas Barn Doors.

KHS&S started the project with masking and demolition of the existing tub, drywall, door, and part of a wall to allow for a wide barn door to be installed. KHS&S framed the new door opening, replaced the drywall, textured and painted, and replaced the baseboard and casing. NCC performed demolition of the existing floor tile, and installed a new tile floor, shower tiles, and a new shower pan system with a low curb. The low curb helps Kaydence’s family get her in and out of the bath area easier while keeping water from escaping. U.S. Mechanical replaced the toilet and moved up the showerhead. Vegas Barn Doors made the custom barn door and provided the hardware, and SNV Specialties installed it. Able Electric moved two light switches and a thermostat to accommodate the new door. In addition, our team had a plan in place to keep construction debris and dust to a minimum and away from Kaydence.
