Getting back to school is always an exciting time for families, teachers, and students. This year, Martin-Harris Construction helped to cement the season by completing three major Clark County School District (CCSD) projects back-to-back: Doris Hancock Elementary School, Bonanza High School, and Earl B. Lundy Elementary School. Each project came with unique challenges, but together they showcase our team’s commitment to building safe, modern, and inspiring environments where students can thrive.
Doris Hancock Elementary School: A Brand-New Campus
Partnering with CCSD and ethos three Architecture, Martin-Harris delivered a brand-new 82,000 SF replacement campus for. This project required the careful demolition and abatement of the existing school before constructing a state-of-the-art facility tailored to today’s educational needs.
Key features included:
- Flexible Classrooms that are designed to support evolving teaching practices.
- Enhanced Safety Measures for peace of mind for students, staff, and families.
- Technology Integration to create dynamic, interactive learning spaces.
- Community Amenities such as new playgrounds, turf fields, and recreational areas.
- Improved Accessibility through expanded parking, new curbs and gutters, and upgraded utilities.
The result is a future-ready school that reflects CCSD’s vision while providing a safe and inspiring environment for the Southern Nevada community.
Bonanza High School: Modern Look and Functionality
Modernizing a 314,900 SF active high school is no small feat. For Bonanza High School, our team tackled a full-scale renovation with seven distinct phases over 30 months, ensuring that learning could continue without disruption.
Highlights of the renovation included:
- Complete Restroom and Accessibility Upgrades
- Modern Science Labs with new casework and countertops
- Gymnasium Improvements including new bleachers
- Kitchen and Cafeteria Expansion during an accelerated summer schedule
- New Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, and Low-Voltage Systems installed with zero downtime
- Campus-Wide Lighting and Site Improvements
Safety was crucial throughout. From dust/noise control and secure perimeters to daily communication with administrators and regular safety audits, every measure was taken to protect students, staff, and workers. The project stands as a testament to our ability to deliver complex upgrades on an occupied campus safely and efficiently.
Earl B. Lundy Elementary School: Renovation in a Flood Zone
The renovation of Lundy Elementary School brought unique challenges after floodwaters caused significant site and building damage. The team had to adapt our typical construction methods to the realities of working in a flood zone while still meeting CCSD’s urgent schedule.
Critical work included:
- Drainage Channel Restoration redesigned for 100-year storm capacity.
- New Septic, Asphalt Paving, and Utility Systems built on stabilized soils.
- Building Repairs with new flooring, ceilings, and upgraded electrical/low-voltage systems.
- Geotechnical Oversight to monitor soil stability and ensure long-term resilience.
- Safety-First Measures including weather-based work stoppages, emergency access planning, and strict SWPPP compliance.
By integrating flood-specific safety protocols, best geotechnical practices, and resilient design solutions, we not only restored the school but also made it more resilient against future flood events.

Completing these three projects back-to-back for the new school year is more than a construction achievement, it’s a reflection of our commitment to the communities we serve.
