Grand Opening Windmill Library and Service Center 2011
The new facility includes a 44,380 SF library, 9,390 SF auditorium, 66,225 SF of office/administration space and a 20,395 SF service center. The library features an art gallery, conference rooms/meeting spaces, a children’s area with story rooms, a used bookstore, and a vending area. The offices and service center house centralized administrative support and material processing functions for the Clark County Library District.
The modern structure utilizes both sustainable design and construction practices. It has been designed to achieve LEED Gold Certification. Regional building materials and water efficient irrigation systems will be utilized in addition to an efficient use of day lighting, minimizing the need for overhead or other lights. The Library will provide a 103.5 KWDC solar photovoltaic system producing 12.5% of energy demand.
